Happy Days With Lightweight Movements

It can be so very difficult to keep to a sensible and fully healthy diet regime. When we are busy it is so easy to get into the habit of either missing a meal altogether, or just grabbing a packet of crisps and bar of chocolate. These habits are seriously bad and can take years to rectify. I used to walk everywhere because when young we used to live in a small village miles from any of our friends so we used to walk to the nearest one and then gradually mooch around with the others. What we did not do was congregate around the nearest fast food restaurant or take out; there were no fast food outlets anywhere to speak of and we didn’t like to go into the local Wimpy bar as that was for the Teddy Boys and other alarming gangs!

Being of a certain age when things start to hurt more bodily, it became apparent that a shift in dietary considerations was imperative. If I was going to lose the several kilos I had gradually piled on in 20 years in a lot less time, then drastic action was necessary. A complete overhaul came into being. I wrote down every meal I had for over a fortnight and looked at the major components. They were not too bad in themselves but for my liking, I did seem to have a lot of carbohydrates on some days and very caloric choices on others. I know full well that I feel much better when I weigh less. Not only do my clothes feel better, but I know my ankles and other load bearing joints respond much better. However, I am less mobile because of arthritis so action needs taking to ensure I don’t seize up altogether. I follow a couple of excellent keep fit trainers on videos every day – alternating between upper arm with weights and cardio with strength exercises followed by stretching routines in the morning and then a longer stretching routine every night. However tired I feel at any time, I try very hard not to miss one of these sessions. It is the passport to movement and freedom from the tyranny of immobility!
